B O D Y brushing 💫

What is it?

Dry body brushing is something I’ve desperately tried to stick to every other day and thankfully has now become a habit, such as brushing your teeth!

Probably the most underrated beauty regime to date. How many people can honestly say they regularly body brush, or even own one?

Body brushing is essentially giving your body a massage by using a dry, stiff-bristled brush {like this one pictured: @hydrealondon} before your shower or bath.

How does it work?

It’s been proven that body brushing, {starting from the soles of your feet, working the strokes up your body in a circular motion, towards your heart} will promote your lymph, helping your body metabolise toxins more efficiently, get rid of fluid retention and cellulite, soften and tone your skin.

What does it do?

As mentioned, I always body brush before washing my body. As we grow older, our skin becomes less efficient at shedding layers of dead skin cells however, dry brushing is incredible at exfoliating these dead skin cells away.

*I always use an oil based moisturiser such as jojoba or almond oil after to rehydrate my skin after showering.

Regular exfoliation acts as a primer for your skin to absorb the ingredients from body moisturisers and serums more effectively, thus, getting the most out of your products! Its a win win.

So, will it get rid of my cellulite?

The truth is body brushing (unfortunately) won’t completely get rid of cellulite however, it does help to mobilise and contribute to the even distribution of fat deposits under the skin.

If you do make it a staple in your routine, it can contribute to making your body look smoother and firmer. Yay!
This is done through the brushing to help bring nutrient rich {oxygenated} blood to the skins surface which gives better tone and elasticity.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this post! Any feedback is greatly appreciated. G x
